My name is Sylvester V Philip – artist, woodcarver and storyteller. Each of my creations – carved or written – carries a piece of my soul. Every artistic carving and painting is done entirely by hand. Most of my puppets, figures and artifacts are numbered, signed, and fully unique. These are more than objects – they are my children.
Among my creations are marionettes, hand-carved chess sets, smoking pipes, profile-carved portraits, and many unique keychains – such as fruit and vegetable designs, mushrooms, storybook characters, and hand-painted figures and keychains inspired by Minecraft gamers.
Some of these items are available for purchase, while others were created solely for exhibitions. I am building a permanent, non-sale collection that can later be rented for exhibitions or museum purposes. All of this is part of a greater legacy I’m building through this website.
This year, I’ve decided never to sell my unique, artistically crafted works again! From now on, I create them only for exhibition.
However, these items – as mentioned – can be rented for exhibitions, set decoration, film or theater productions. My functional creations, such as marionettes, can even be used in puppetry performances.
I don’t accept commissions – or only rarely, with special reason.
Through my art, I want to leave something behind that speaks to generations. This website – and the museum it represents – is not just a gallery: it’s a living archive of the soul I carve into wood and words alike.
